Below you can see the adult male Tramitichromis intermedia in full color. The color fades and the three spots reappear when he is a bit stressed.
Note you can still see the very faint three spots in the picture below.
A male cichlid from Lake Malawi formerly known as Lethrinops intermedius. In fact, the not that common name for this cichlid is the "green faced lethrinops" This is the only Malawi cichlid I've kept that isn't a mbuna. Initially the male and female are identical with a silver body and three spots. The male develops a beautiful coloration in the fins. My local fish store had a stunning mature male for sale with a price tag of $70.
