Previous name:   Haplochromis sp. "copper black"

Location:    Lake Victoria (Speke Gulf?)

Adult male size:    5 inches (13 cm)

Diet:   algae grazer

Personal notes:  I obtained 22 tiny littleF1 (first generation from wild stock) Mbipia Mbipi fry in November of 2007.  After 13 months, the dominant male is 3 1/2" long and the smallest female is still only 1 1/4" long.  They are in a 75 gallon tank with Haplochromis sp "redfin piebald".   Surprisingly, they have not yet spawned.
