Quite a few years ago I bought four of these cichlids from the LFS at a very small size that were labeled as Pseudotropheus zebra. As they grew it became obvious by their body shape and their smaller size [maxed out at about 4" (10 cm)] that they were not of the Mylandia/Metriaclima genus. I posted a picture of them in one of the forums and never ended up with a positive ID. The best guess is that they are hybrids, with some Cynotilapia in them. I let them live their life out in a spare 20 gallon tank.
