Name:    Yssichromis piceatus  (Greenwood and Gee, 1969)

Synonym:   Haplochromis piceatus

Common name:   none

Location:    Lake Victoria (open water)

Adult male size:   3.5 inches (8 cm)

Diet:   Zooplanktivore

Personal notes:  I purchased 10 juvenile Yssichromis piceatus in the spring of 2018.  This is a very small slender species that is also very peaceful.  They have bred often for me although the brood size is rather small at 8 to 12 fry.

Above are several male Yssichromis piceatus at around 3" long.
